Oolactive affordable cycling kits for all cyclists

Cycling is an expensive sport and with supply chains heavily strained, things have gotten even more expensive lately. Cyclist on a tight budget or the conscientious shopper will indeed find great value. When most other bibs alone can cost $100-$200 USD, you can get an entire Oolactive cycling kit for only $50 USD. Also get a 15% off on your first order.

Oolactive is a one-stop cycling kit apparel online shop. Their cycling kit designs emphasize comfort, but also give you stylish designs and performance gear for everyday cycling. Their kits are meant for all types of riders, from “beginners to World Tour Professionals,” but I’m not sure if they sponsor any teams.

Watch my video review and see the kit in action.

The Cycling Kit

The cycling kit arrived quickly. After ordering the kit, I had the package in less than a week. The checkout process and their website interface are great; the only difficulty with the process is choosing from their large selection (which is a good problem to have). The kit came folded up nicely and with a reusable zipping bag.

Once you have chosen your design for your cycling kit, you’ll need to determine your size.

This is always a tricky thing, especially if you have tried on a company’s clothing on. I know with some European brands, I usually need to size up to XL, whereas most US brands I’m good with a size L. Also, it tough to know if their size charts are correct. Luckily the size was just right.

In the end, I choose a A39 Red + Black size L cycling kit and it fits nicely.

Construction

The Jersey is made from 100% polyester. A nice feature of the jersey is that it has mesh side to allow for good ventilation. The fabric is moisture wicking and provide SPF 50 sun protection. On the rear of the jersey there are 3 decently size pockets that give plenty of storage.

The sleeves are made from the same fabric as the rest of the jersey. I found the sleeves to fit good and didn’t squeeze my biceps too tightly. Aerodynamics it quite important in cycling, I wouldn’t call this a race cut jersey, but it provides a nice snug fit without being too baggy.

The lower hem of the jersey has a silicone gripper. This will help to keep the jersey from sliding up.

The cycling kit bibs are made from 80% polyester and 20% spandex. The chamois is a breathable and quick drying made form hide density foam and gel padding. The rear part of the chamois has two thickened sections with gel padding the provide extra padding for your sit bones.

Bibs are a tricky item to purchase and are highly subjective to comfort and if the chamois aren’t well placed they could harm more than help. I would prefer if these chamois were a little bit longer, but they did sit in the right place. Cycling isn’t static thing, thus a little extra chamois would provide more padding when moving around on the saddle.

I’m not the slenderest cyclist, so sometimes I have issues with the leg bands being too tight around my thighs on some cycling kits. These legs bands are elastic with silicone grippers on the inside. I wish these leg bands stretched a little bit more, but even with that, they weren’t uncomfortable.

Cycling Bibs

The bib straps are a mesh fabric that provide plenty of ventilation. They are also ergonomically shaped to fit around your shoulders with very little friction. I found the straps to be comfortable and didn’t put too much pressure on my shoulders.

This cycling kit is well made. The seams are nicely sewn together and there aren’t any loose threads. Its hard to imagine that this cycling kit is only $50 USD.

Let’s Ride

After a one-hour intense trainer ride, I found these bibs to be comfortable. I think this is a good cycling kit to use on trainer rides. And for at least a quarter of the price of other expensive kits, you could get a few of these kits and still have money left over.

Final Thoughts

Now it’s tough to make direct comparisons of this kit to other pricier cycling kits that use more expensive fabrics. One of the most important parts for extended comfort is a good chamois and these chamois do a decent job.

Style is a person feel and is very subject. Oolactive has some wild designs if that is what you are into. Personally, I like simple plan jersey, but even if you can’t find a style you like on their site, they have custom options available. Also, check out their page often because they have new designs coming out all the time.
