Wahoo Element ACE Leaked
Just found on Reddit are images of the latest Wahoo Element. This is not an official release, and the post is a little bit shady, so it is hard to tell if this is real. Some of the comments claim to verify this GPS, with one user saying they saw it at the LBS from a Wahoo Rep.
The only information available on this device are from the grainy low-res images posted to the site. But with careful examination of the specs on the packaging, there are some surprisingly new technologies that haven’t been seen on GPS cycling computers before.
This new GPS appears to be a new product line and not an update to the very popular Wahoo Roam and Bolt cycling computers. The packaging looks quite real, and a Wahoo spokesperson refused to comment on the leak. Is it possible that a new Element is dropping soon?
Specs
Touch Screen, 16M Colours, 3.8″, Next Gen TFT
Wind, Accelerometer, Altimeter, Gyroscope
30+ hours of battery life, 64GB Memory, Dual Band GPS
USB-C Charger, Premium Aluminum Mount, Audio Speaker
One of the most interesting sensors on board is the wind sensor. It is hard to tell at this point what the specific function this sensor will server, but it is possible that it can serve as an aero sensor to calculate real-time drag coefficient.
Following in line with the Garmin 1050, there is a speaker that could possibly be used to simulate a bell. Maybe the GPS can provide turn-by-turn audio too.
The new Wahoo Element has a huge battery. The new battery doubles the runtime from the Element Bolt from 15 hrs to a claimed 30 hrs (Wahoo Roam has 17 hr runtime). This is an amazing increase in battery life, and it will put this new device on par with the Garmin Edge and ahead of the Hammerhead Karoo 3.
The screen is larger than Wahoo’s previous GPS devices too. The screen is 3.8 inches and will have touch screen. There seems to be nothing about solar charging, which many might find as a downfall. It seems like Coros is leading on battery life with their impressive solar charging followed by Garmin.
Included with the new Element is an aluminum mount. It is nice to see them providing a more durable mount instead of a plastic mount. I’m a little skeptical though. Most people already have a mount, and most handlebars now require specific mounts. Including a mount nowadays seems like bad idea.
Obviously, there is no word on the expected price. The current Element is about $399.99 USD. With all the new features, larger battery, larger screen, ang more it is expected that this new device will cost significantly more. Some of the Reddit users are guessing it will cost around $699 USD. Time will tell how much it will actually cost though.
What are your thoughts on this leak? Is it real? What features do you think Wahoo missed out on?

Looks sweet all round. If it’s 649 or less and has a fast boot up time, than they have a winner
Eee – It will be interesting to see. I’ve seen some skepticism online if it true or not. We shall see. Thanks for reading.
