Fidlock Twist Bottles

I have been using Fidlock bottles for over a year now and I recently became a Fidlock ambassador. I have really enjoyed using these water bottles and I want to share their wide product line up and why they are a great system.

I am always excited to use new tech and who would have thought it would come on a water bottle. Fidlock uses magnetic technology and a twisting action to bring water bottle systems to the modern age.

Sometimes, we do things because that’s the way it has always been done. I know from experience, that the traditional water bottle and cage system isn’t always the best.

I did quite a few gravel races last year, and from that experience alone I saw the downfall of the traditional water bottle and cage system. I saw one rider in a gravel race I was racing in lose a bottle in the first gravel sector. We weren’t even 30 minutes into a 6-hour event. I bet his enjoyment was severely reduced that day.

I also saw water bottles lost on course throughout many races I competed in. This is not only wasteful, but it poses a hazard to riders behind.

With the Fidlock bottle and Base System lost bottles are a thing of the past. I have ridden gnarly gravel, bumpy roads, and chunky single track and not a single bottle has come off. But, with a simple twist of the bottle it comes off when you want it to.

I think the this is probably the best feature of this bottle system, and it is so simple how it works. The Base has two posts each with a magnet. One the bottle, there are connector piece that allows for the post to connect to. The magnets and a clip together hold the bottle onto the bike (or whatever you decide to mount it to, more on this later).

This ingenious system is so simple and effective. But what if you put the bottle upside down? You can’t because the magnets of each post have reverse polarities, so it can only be mounted in one direction. When mounting the Base make sure you point the arrow in the right direction.

Another benefit of the Fidlock bottle system is that they don’t require upward movement to remove from the base like a traditional bottle system. This means if you have a small frame with little clearance, this bottle will allow you to get a bottle and possibly a bigger bottle than you otherwise would.

I sometimes ride with a frame bag on my gravel bike. Using a smaller bottle (the Twist bottle 450 or Twist bottle 590) I can fit a bottle and my bag with no problem.

My mountain bike has a shock and a small frame, so it makes getting a regular bottle in and out. The Twist Bottle 800 works perfectly for this application. Fidlock now makes a Twist Bottle 750 Compact meant for narrow frame geometries.

Though Fidlock is a cycling-oriented company, they offer products for runners, hikers, and people pushing strollers. The Twist tex base allows you to mount a bottle on your belt. The Twist tex base multi allows you to mount a bottle on to a backpack strap. The Twist uni base allows you to mount to a cylindrical object, such as the handle of a stroller.

Do you want to join the Fidlock bottle system, but you can’t give up your favorite bottle? Fidlock has something for you too. The Twist uni connector allows you to use your own bottle on the Fidlock base. The universal connector has a BOA strap that allows you to connect a bottle of your choice.

Lately, I have been riding a lot of gravel. And with off road riding, it tends to be muddy or dusty. Fidlock bottles come with an optional dirt cover. This is a great feature for keeping your bottle valve clean.

The Fidlock lid is equipped with a self-sealing valve that makes drinking from it very easy.

Fidlock also makes the Fidlock Fidgaurd antibacterial bottle for people on the go. This is a sports-oriented bottle to take with you to the gym or throughout your day. These bottles come in five different colors.

Fidgaurd is now offered in a Twist Bottle 590 version too.

When it comes to hydrating while racing Fidlock bottles are there with me every pedal of the race. Fidlock is there for me on all my training and adventures too. They offer various sizes to fit all my needs.

Fidlock bottles use magnetic technology to provide a secure attachment. Reach down to grab your bottle and it will always be there, ready to provide you a drink.
